While brushwork, composition, and color all play important roles, they are not what ultimately bring a painting to life.
The essential ingredient, the spark, is artistic emotion—the intangible quality that transforms paint into something meaningful and enduring. It is what elevates a painting beyond the sum of its parts and creates a connection between the artist's soul, artwork and the soul of the viewer. I call this quality Oiled.
